At Geodis Park in Tennessee, where both teams were competing for their first-ever trophy since joining the MLS in 2020.

Fafa Picault's header from a corner kick in the 57th minute of the second half gave Nashville a point when it rebounded off Inter Miami's Benjamin Cremaschi and Drake Callender its route to the net.

The game entered penalties tied at 1-1 after several close calls from both teams.

As the shootout transitioned into sudden death, Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba all converted their penalties for Inter Miami.
