'This Is Us' actor Ron Cephas-Jones dies at 66.
HOLLYWOOD — A spokesperson for Ron Cephas Jones announced Saturday that the 66-year-old stage actor, who
won two Emmys for his performance as a long-lost father who finds forgiveness on the NBC drama series "This Is Us," passed away.
When asked what caused Jones' death, his manager Dan Spilo responded in an email that it was "due to a long-standing pulmonary issue."Spilo remarked,
"Throughout the course of his career, anyone who had the good fortune to know him felt his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness, and heart.
"In 2020, Jones spent about two months in a Los Angeles hospital after undergoing a double lung transplant for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
In "This Is Us," Jones portrayed William "Shakespeare" Hill, Randall Pearson's (Sterling K. Brown) biological father whose life is revitalized by his bond with his son's family.
Brown wrote on Instagram after Jones' death, "One of the most wonderful people the world has ever seen is no longer with us." The world has dimmed a little.
You are cherished dearly, sibling. We will miss you very much.
