Packers declare quarterback signing official on Wednesday
The Green Bay Packers gambled on a USFL star Wednesday.
With training camp approaching, the Packers signed Birmingham Stallions MVP and USFL champion Alex McGough, according the organization.
The 6-foot-3, 214-pound quarterback was a 2018 Houston Texans seventh-round pick who bounced around practice teams before joining the alternative spring league.
He maximized it. Throwing 2,104 yards and a league-leading 20 touchdowns to lead the Stallions to a second straight title over the Pittsburgh Maulers.
McGough joins quarterbacks Jordan Love, Sean Clifford, and Danny Etling.
